Mangalore/Udupi : Two teachers from Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district will be honoured with National -level Best Teacher Award at Rashtrapathi Bhavan in New Delhi on September 5.
Speaking on the occasion, Ramesh Nayak, Headmaster of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Higher Primary School at Keddalike in Bantwal taluk expressed his happiness over the award.
Mr Nayak also said that the award has brought national recognition to my school, taluk and the district. Mr Nayak who started his teaching career at Permayi in Kadaba in the year 1980, had served at Rayi school for 21 years.
Apart from it, Nayak worked at CRP for three years and has been serving at Keddalike School from five years. In these five years, Nayak has achieved best school award at the district-level, best SDMC award and award for cleanliness.
Keddalike School has been selected as the best school for Akshara Dasoha. The school under the guidance of Mr Nayak has developed a kitchen garden and supplied like ridge gourd, cucumber, brinjal, spinach, okra, ivy gourd, papaya, drum sticks and long yard beans required for mid-day meals. Apart from it, he had also encouraged students to grow fruit bearing saplings.
Another recipient of the award is Lakshmikanth Bhat from Udupi district. Mr Bhat, teacher at Government Modern Higher Primary School, Nanadalike in Karkala expressed his happiness over the recognition.
Mr Bhat said that, he has succeeded in bring laurels to school where he has been working for the past 20 years. He has spent all his professional life in rural areas.
Bhat said that, it was difficult to introduce English language from the class 1 in Nandalike government school but, he had taken the challenges posed by the English medium schools in and around Nandalike and taught English since 1999.
It was Bhat, who raised funds from the donors to improve infrastructure facilities in the school and worked hard to give quality education. He has the achievement of introducing EDUSAT in the school.
Bhat started his career from Gonala in Bijapur in 1981 and served at Koranje school in Karkala.
Under his guidance, school bagged district-level best school award, Best SDMC award and Best Meena team award. From past five years, his school has been getting first prize and best school award in the annual evaluation conducted by the education department.
