Mangaluru : Two Tibetan nationals arrested in a cheating case wherein money was transferred to different accounts using the credit card of a person.
They were using China apps banned in India for their illegal work.
Those arrested are Lobsang Sangyes (24) and Dakpa Phunde (40), both residents of a monastery in Tibetan colony of Mundagod in Uttara Kannada district. Search has been launched for three others involved in this racket.
Investigations revealed that the two had in phases transferred money to the tune of Rs 1.12 lakhs from the SBI credit card of C D Alexander of Attavar Vaidyanathnagar, to different accounts.
It is learnt Alexander had surrendered his credit card to the bank after the annual charges were increased. However he had received a message that Rs 1.12 lakh was transferred from his account on March 27 and soon had lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Police.
The accused were arrested on November 10 and were produced before the court. They have been handed over to ten days of police custody.
