Udupi : Three tourists who got down to the water for a bath in Malpe sea got washed away under a strong waves. While two of them were rescued, one of them died on the way to the hospital.

The tragic incident happened at Malpe Beach on Thursday, April 18.

The deceased is identified as Girish, a resident of Belur, Hassan district. Santhosh and another tourist were rescued and are undergoing treatment at Manipal Hospital.

It is said, a group of 20 people had arrived on an excursion to Malpe Beach from Belur. Three of them got washed away in the strong waves while bathing in the sea. Eshwar Malpe, a diving expert and his team rushed to the spot, rescued them and brought them to the shore.

Girish among them whose condition was critical died on the way to the hospital. Two others who were rescued are being treated in the hospital.
