Mangalore : Two young boys meet a tragic end at a swimming pool located at Kanachur Public School, Deralakatte on May 1, Thursday.
The deceased youths have been identified as Neeraj aged 15, son of Jayaram, a driver in School Book Company and Suraj (23), son of Bhaskar, a police constable in the Mangalore city Intelligence wing.
It is learnt that the youths Neeraj and Suraj were working at School Book Company for part time and full time respectively. The duo along with other seven went to Kanachur Public School in a van driven by Neeraj’s father Jayaram, to arrange the books and prepare school kits for the coming academic year.
As the duo saw the swimming pool in the premises of the institution, both went without getting into anyone’s notice. After a while when the other members went in search of these, they found their footwear near the pool, which is about 18 ft deep.
Although one person from Thokkottu tried to rescue them, he failed in his attempt since the water contained the chemical solution and the floor was very slippery. Finally with the help of some locals, the body of both were recovered and taken to a hospital in Deralakatte.
Suraj is said to be working at the company during vacations since his SSLC and got into full time job after completing his degree course from St Aloysius College, while Neeraj, a student of 9th standard is pursuing his education at a school located at Vamanjoor.
Ullal police arrived at the spot and registered a case at station. An investigation is on.
