Mangaluru : Two persons are feared drowned in the Phalguni on Tuesday afternoon after they were caught in the swirls, in Kavoor police limits.

The police gave the names of the deceased as Tony Tavares (28) who was an autorickshaw driver and was also into catering, and Ramesh (30), who was also into catering.

The two along with Deepak had been to the river near Moodushedde. They were residents of Tharigudde, Neermarga and Pachchanady respectively.

Since Deepak did not know swimming, he remained on the banks of the river while Tony and Ramesh ventured to swim. As they were caught in the swirl and disappeared, Deepak raised an alert and informed the police as well as Fire and Emergency Service Department.
