Mangalore : State Health and Family Welfare Minister U T Khader inaugurated of blood component separation equipment at DK – IRCS Blood Bank and foundation laying ceremony of the 60 bedded mother and child health wing at Lady Goschen Hospital premises on October 18, Satuday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that the hospital have upgraded with government hospital canteens with concerns to promote healthy food to the patients as well as their care takers.
The government will commence Health revolution in state and will set an example for other states. The Union Health Ministry have already developed ‘Healthizen app’ and is planning to introduce it across the nation, he said.
He also said that minister added he is all set to provide accommodation and canteen facility to the family members accompanying patients admitted in government hospitals in the State. He assured to take measures to prevent inconvenience caused to the blood banks to public by not offering them blood on time. The government is working on a website connecting 40 government blood banks in the State to make availability of blood posted online.
The reproductive, maternal, newborn and child health building at Lady Goschen premises will be constructed at a cost of Rs 10.60 crore, he said.
MP M Veerappa Moily inaugurated Blood component separation equipment unit and said that the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) as a part of their corporate social responsibility has sponsored for getting Rs 1 crore for the unit.
Speaking on the slow progress of the work on construction of new building of Lady Goschen hospital, he said the work was stopped due to technical snags on the part of ONGC funding of Rs 22 crore, he said.
