Mangalore : The Christian Reforms’ Foundation (CRF) in association with the United Christian Association (UCA) staged silent protest against improper financial distribution during Mangalore Diocese post-centenary silver jubilee celebrations, in front of the Bishop’s House on Jan 31 Tuesday.
Addressing the protestors, PUCL President P. B. D’Sa said that the diocese had earlier announced to give that Rs. 5 lakh to the beneficiaries but has only given Rs. 50,000.
He said that the priests of the diocese had collected the amount of Rs. 18 crore from Christians residing in the Gulf countries for its post-centenary golden jubilee celebrations but never utilized it.
Irene and John from Maroli, who were claimed as the first couple to receive the house after identifying as the first beneficiaries of Mangalore Diocese project said that the church had declared that their house as charity, but they had spent to construct their house.
