Mangaluru: Members of United Christian Association demonstrated black flag and protested against the celebration of Tippu Jayanthi, at Silver Gate on Thursday.
Speaking to the protestors Robert Rosario said that last year also protests were staged against Tippu Jayanthi celebrations and a memorandum was also submitted to Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner.
“Because of Tippu Sultan, coastal Christian community has suffered a lot. He has destroyed the churches and the government is hurting the feelings of coastal Christians. Tippu has killed thousands of Christians in the coastal region and he is the worst enemy of Christian community,” he said.
He further said that the Congress government thinks that Christians are vote bank of Congress during elections. In fact the association has planned to stage protest in front of DC office, but due to section 144 the authority didn’t permit us to stage protest.
