Udupi: The BJP has staged a protest here “CMC Commissioner Hatao Programme” demanding an immediate removal of city municipal council (CMC) commissioner, D Manjunathaiah.

The protesters claimed that Manjunathaiah lacks technical knowledge required for the post he holds, as he is from education department, and also that he is corrupt. They said that the CMC is seeping in corruption because of the support of the commissioner.

The procession which began from the BJP office at Kadiyali concluded near the CMC office. There was even a vehicle carrying the portrait of the Commissioner with a garland of footwear.

Addressing the gathering, Raghupathi Bhat demanded a deputation of the Commissioner back to his parent department and urged the District in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj to immediately respond to the demands, failing which strong protest programme will be launched,” he warned.

District BJP president, Mattaru Ratnakar Hegde and several other party leaders including former MLA Raghupathi Bhat, Geetanjali Suvarna, Shyamala Kunder, Yashpal Suvarna, Sulochana Bhat participated in the protest.
