Udupi : The Udupi Block Congress General Secretary Janardhan Bhandarkar has alleged that the Udupi Legislator Raghupathi Bhat had illegally acquired as much as 110 acres from the KIADB.
Bhandarkar also alleged that 44 acres out of this has been transferred to a friend of the MLA who lives in Mumbai. According to Bhandarkar, the land in Nandikur was meant for small scale industries, and was close by the KPTCL sub-station. He said the land was presently worth crores and the MLA intended to reap benefit from the same. He also alleged that it was the Kaup MLA who had written to the then Chief Minister Yeddyurappa and Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani in 2009 to denotify the land.
He said the Congress would request the chief minister to hand over this case to the Lokayukta. Udupi Block Congress Vie President Prakhyat Shetty, Ramesh Kanchan and other office bearers were present.
