Udupi: Dr. V.S. Acharya, a senior state minister hoisted the flag and took the salute at Ajjarkad on Tuesday morning, as the district people organised 56th Rajyotsava celebrations in great splendour.

The new district Headquarters complex would be duly completed by December end to be inaugurated by CM DVS Gowda. Infrastructural facilities will be raised in all 5 constituencies of the district as per a blue print being readied. CM has announced a package of Rs.50 crores for the entire project, Dr. Acharya said.

He asked elders to instill a love for Kannada in younger people, and told state departmental officials to implement Kannada in every possible way.

The state celebration should go on for a whole year he added.

District awards for the Day were presented on the occasion to many achievers. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Raju flagged off a colourful road procession earlier. Local MLAs and leaders were present. Cultural events were presented by youths on the occasion.
