Udupi: Despite Yeddyurappa’s absence, there was a fair amount of Campaigning done in Udupi and Chikkamagalur Districts for MP by-poll s on Sunday, with voting ranges from 59% to 74% in 8 areas of the constituency in twin districts.
There are 8 assembly segments, four each in coastal, and Malnad districts, of Udupi-Chikkamagalur constituency. The polling was even, on average with 2008 voting figures, at 68% plus.
Karkala showed 74% Udupi had 72%, Chikkamagaluru got 64% votes, Sringeri 74%, and the lowest in Tarikere was 59%.
The Koppa taluk naxal-affected areas conducted brisk polling after an initial lull upto noon.
Even those hyper sensitive booths of the notorious Meansinghadya, Heggaru and other 4 areas, registered 60% votes turnout, during a weekly off.
Mudigere touched 66% at 5PM(Close), Tarikere 59%, Karkala 74%, Chikkamagaluru 59%, Kaup 70%, Udupi 72.5%, Kundapur 73%, and Sringeri 74%.
The results hidden in electronic voting machines(EVM) will be out on March 21, when the MP who caused the bypoll, and CM now(as MLC), DVS Gowda will present his first Rs 1lakh crore annual budget.
