Udupi: The swab results of a 54-year-old man who died on Thursday has been found positive for coronavirus, said Udupi District Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha on Friday.
With this the Covid 19 death in the district rose to 2 and 11 people tested positive for coronavirus on Friday.
The deceased had arrived from Mumbai and had been placed under home quarantine as he did not display any symptoms during the check-up.
On Friday 11 people including three children tested positive for coronavirus in Udupi district. Four are Maharashtra returnees, two have travelled from Tamil Nadu and five patients have contracted infection from other positive patients. Three patients contracted infection from P-7024, while two patients contracted infection from P-7291.
The total number of cases in Udupi is 1,050 with only 98 cases being currently active. As many as 950 patients including four on Friday who recovered have been discharged from hospital. Two deaths have occurred in the district including one on Friday.
