Udupi: V.S Acharya on Monday opened the newly built Patrika Bhavan for in the presence of many distinguished guests. The Bhavan was built of a scheme to release funds to journalists in every district, to have their own office and an auditorium as in Bangalore and Mangalore.
Gangadhar Mudaliar chief of KUWJ in Bangalore addressed the gathering and praised the BJP Govt. for being media friendly and hoped to secure some more demands realized in due course as laid so far before it.
Dr. Acharya in his speech stated that a Vartha Bhavan would be also constructed by the side of Patrika Bhavan at a cost of Rs. 50 Lakhs soon.
Udupi MP, DV Sadananda Gowda in a said that good governance needed an effective, probing, exposing media that reports good points of administration too. He wanted issues of larger significance, such as infrastructure and development, to remain prominent ion dailies. He admitted follies in administration.
President of local Union of Working Journalists, Kiran Manjanabail was in the chair. General Secretary Jaykar Suvarna presented the report. Several leaders were present.
