Udupi:  BJP Mahila Morcha workers staged a protest near the Gandhi statue near the bus stand in the town on May 29, Tuesday opposing the recent hike in petrol prices  by the Union Government.

Speakers on the occasion came down heavily on the Union Government for striking a severe blow on the common man by hiking petrol prices several times during its tenure. They also called upon the public to support the Bharath Bundh call on May 31 against the petrol price hike.  Several Mahila Morcha leaders including Bharathi Chandrashekhar, TMC Vice President, Councilors Sumitra Nayak, Manjula Nayak, Chantaru  Gram Panchayat President Jayanthi Vasudeva and others were present/.
