Udupi : MLA Pramod Madhwaraj said that he has already directed officials to dig bore wells in three water scarce areas coming under Udupi City Municipal Council (CMC) limits and assured to distribute water to the areas through tankers until monsoon, so that arising water shortage in the district will be tackled.
Speaking at a meeting of PDO’s convened by the workforce committee at taluk office on April 24, Thursday, MLA said that the council officials must dig out borewell at Rajeev Nagar, Indira Nagar, and Duglipadavu Kukkikatte, so that water from these would be supplied to the houses in the areas by linking the pipeline.
MLA also said if there is shortage of water in the Baje Dam across the Swarna River, then council must take steps to pump water from the big trenches on the pathway.
He also directed the officials to prepare an action plan and facilitate tanker arrangements to tackle water scarcity problem in the district.
