Udupi: Udupi Chikmagalur MP Jayaprakash Hegde has said that he was making all out efforts to fulfill the demand of the people of the region to extend the Bangalore Mangalore night train upto Karwar.
Speaking at a Jago Sansad Jago programme organized by the Udupi Consumers’ Forum on July 23, Monday, he said he has already spoken to the Chairman of the Railway board on the issue.
RL Dias, President of the Udupi Railway Yatri Sangha who spoke on the occasion, urged Jayaprakash Hegde to urge the railway officials to provide a stop for the Pune-Ernakulam Express, Kochuveli-Amritsar Express and the Kochuveli- Dehradun Express at Udupi.
Neelawar Surendra Adiga, President of the Udupi district unit of the Kannada Sahitya Parishat, while urging for steps to protect Kannada medium schools, made a strong case for a national language policy.
