Udupi: The biennial Paryaya(Changeover) Peetha Durbar ceremonies are well set to take place at the appointed early morning time on January 18(tomorrow) Wednesday at the Rajangana which holds 5,000 devotees. The celebrations commence on 19th Thursday at midnight. Speaking to media reporters at the Sode Mutt, reception secretary Ratnakumar on Monday indicated that the Paryaya Sarvajna Peetha ascending seer of Sode Mutt would be in Danda Teertha near Kaup on previous night where he takes a dip and perform puja in early Brahmi hours. He enters Udupi at Jodukatte at 4-30 AM where 6 Swamijis of Ashta Math, receive him but not the present seer, Shirur Math Swamiji as per traditions.
The new Paryaya Guru will be taken in a procession having 17 Tableaus and 15 folk/cultural troupes, while he is in a Palanquin. After a visit to 4 local temple gods, he ascends the throne at the Durbar. 9 persons are awarded Paryaya Prashasti as achievers. Several ministers including CM, and UPA Central minister Mukul Wasnik, will be present. On Tuesday night, CM DVS Gowda will be present to felicitate the outgoing. Paryaya Swami of Shirur Math Laxmivara Tirtha at a civic reception in Rajangann. Devotees are making a bee-line to Udupi since Sunday last.
