Udupi: Thousands of Sri Krishna devotees took Part in a colorful procession at Udupi on the early morning of Saturday (Jan.18) along with dancers, band sets, band music, Tiger dances, floats, depicting Puranic scenes, flags and umbrellas, Nasik bands from Mangalore, Kunjargiri, Marpalli, Alevoor and other places, and above all Kaniyoor Math Swamiji Vidyavallabha Tirtha leading the procession, and they were all received at the gates of Sri Krishna Math near Car street at 6 am by the outgoing Swamiji of Sode Math, Vishwa Vallavha Tirtha and both Swamijies proceed a towards the main doors of the Math after the Kaniyoor Math Swamiji had a Darshan of the lord at the ‘Kanakana Kindi’ below a newly constructed Gopuram and by the side of 2 large decorated Chariots that will take part in the festival with red and white flags adorning them, one of them being built by the funds of Sri Puttige Math Swamiji Sugunendra Tirtha.
It was curious that the Swamijis of Admar and Puthige Maths did not take part in the colorful procession on Saturday from the beginning to the end.
After the procession ended near the Sri Krishna Math the Two Swamijies went to take the Darshan of lord Krishna in the temple and came out to sit in a Palanquin each carried by vehicles and not by devotees after going round the Car Street with victory slogans by the devotees, the two Swamijies entered the Rajangana, newly renovated and tastefully decorated where Kaniyoor Math Swamiji replace the Sode Math Swamiji and assended the Sarvajna Peetha of Sri Madhvacharya to hold the right of worshipimng the lord Krishna in his temple for the next 2 years (2014-16).
There after a program of speeches benedictions by Swamijies and prayers by women and presentations to the reigning Swamiji by his devotees followed.
The new Paryaya Swamiji of Kaniyoor Math, Vidyavallabha Tirtha distributed the Prasadam to dignitaries, invitees and special guest of the day.
