Udupi: udupi city police with the help of railway police successfully curbed the attempt to stop the train by the pro-Kannada activists, on Thursday. Activists had staged protest against the Supreme Court’s order on Cauvery river dispute.
Nearly 50 activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike members tried to stop the train at Udupi railway station. They were trying to stop Mangaluru-Madgao intercity train. The train was proceeding towards Madgao from Mangaluru. But the KRV members were stopped right before entering the railway station, by railway police and city police.
Because of the quick action by the police, train moved on without any hold-up. It is gathered that the detained activists were taken to the Manipal police station.
Even the KSRP platoon was also deputed at the railway station.
