Udupi: The much acclaimed Sri Krishna Janmashtami(birth) festival is approaching Udupi as scheduled on Aug.21, a Sunday to rejoice.
The curd pots to be broken on Aug 22 are going up on CarStreet and some youngsters are measuring the heights to which they need to climb on someone’s shoulders to reach that pot and presents hanging nearby. The whole monastery is in a flood of lights and coloured bulbe of various sizes shapes, colours and in designs so attractive.
This year, the devotees will eat1.5lakhs of rice rings(chakkuli) and 75,000 laddus(sweet balls).Thousands come from all over coastal nearby district to offer Sevas to Lord Krishna here and partake of Prasadam.

The Paryaya Shirur Swami is ever busy directing each and every aspect of the birthday of Lord Krishna celebrations. There are Vittla pindi Bhajan singing teams everywhere. The Paryaya Swami is a highly active Sannyasi and makes his presence felt everywhere.
Many Tigher damcers are on view during a long procession because Shirur Swamiji likes them and foots their bills. The Krishna Leelotsava precedes Mysore Dasara, as a great (Dwita)annual pious celebration.
