Udupi : Police officials are hunting for an absconding police constable who has been registered in a case of blackmailing and extortion at Udupi town police station.
Speaking at a press meet SP P Rajendra Prasad, said that based on the involvement in another crime, constable Sudhir has been suspended and charged with section 324, 504 and 506 of IPC.
He also said that, Munir Ahmed had registered case for blackmailing and extortion against Sudhir in Udupi town police station on Sept 1 for threatening him to publish nude and obscene pictures of his daughter.
SP also said that, accused Sudhir had called Munir Ahmed over the phone and asked him to meet him at Udupi police station.
Later, complaint complainant along with his nephew Shamil met the accused, who revealed that Bangalore and Delhi police have the nude pictures of his daughter and accused him of running a prostitution racket. Sudhir also threatened to publish the obscene photos of his daughter and asks to pay him Rs 30 lakh.
While Ahmed refused to pay such huge amount, accused pretended as making a call to someone, and finally settled the deal for Rs 25 lakh. Later the complainant paid the amount of Rs two lakh on April 11 and Rs 23 lakh on April 19.
As Ahmed came to know about the conspiracy hatched by Sudhir with the help of Shamil, he threatened him and took back the amount on August 21 with a condition not to register case against him. However, after receiving the money, Ahmed registered complain against the duo.
