Udupi : The KSRTC bus depot and the Regional Transport Office of Udupi will be declared open by Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister R Ashok on November 23.
The KSRTC depot stands at Nittur on a four acre land and the building measuring 1700 square feet has been constructed at a cost of Rs 2 crores. The existing KSRTC bus stand at Udupi can accommodate only a few buses forcing many other buses to park near the Inspection Bungalow or near Ajjarkad. As many as 50 buses can be parked in the new depot.
The new RTO office is located at Manipal End Point and is said to be the first of its kind in the state constructed at a cost of nearly Rs 5.9 crores. The building is located in a 2.32 acre land and has space for parking of vehicles, a Document safety centre, an information centre, apart from other amenities.
