Mangaluru : Education should be work based and everybody should know how to work on projects, said Prof. Jaya Prakash Rao, the director of A J Institute of Management Studies, Mangalore.
He was inaugurating a one day UGC sponsored workshop on ‘Work based learning for undergraduate and post graduate students through projects’ at Besant Evening College, Mangalore. He spoke about the importance of knowledge regarding project work. He said that the education should be work based. The institutions should prepare the students for the present day industry requirements. The students should be equipped with strong skills, one of them being project preparation skills. He further said that the present generation is lucky to learn many new things through the modern technologies. He congratulated the college for taking interest in selecting a very opt theme on ‘work based learning’.
Dr. Anjali Ganesh, Mr. Suraj Francis Noronha, Mr. Sumitha Achar and Mr. Jeevan Shetty were the resource persons in the workshop. The principal of the college, Dr Carmelita Goveas, presided over the function, welcomed the gathering and spoke about objectives of organising the workshop. The convener of the workshop, Prof. Gopal Raddi Ritti spoke about the theme of the workshop. Prof. Ishwar Poojary, the Dean, Faculty of Commerce was present. The Faculty and students from various colleges attended the workshop. Dr. Vasappa Gowda proposed the vote of thanks. Ms. Pooja compered the programme.
