Mangalore : The JD(S) which has fielded a total of 48 candidates for the MCC elections, had been on a hectic campaigning spree. Leaders sank differences and campaigned for the party hoping to win more seats in this time.
Last elections, the JD(S) candidate had won only from the Kudroli ward. But this time, the JD(S) is confident of winning more seats. Party leaders are even confident that the party can make it to MCC this time with a majority.
Party leaders like Sadananda Shetty, Nagaraj Shetty and MG Hegde have campaigned vigorously. MG Hegde, Secretary of the state unit says the party hopes to make it in at least 20 seats this time. At the same time, the fact is that it may be a daunting task for the JD(S) to storm into the Congress and BJP forts.
The party has given due representation to the minority candidates and of the total 48 candidates, 10 are Christians and nine Muslims.
