Mangalore: All roads are leading to Ullal on November 24 and 25. There is every reason for this. Ullal beach will be witness to its first ever beach festival on these two days. The event organized to mark the silver jubilee of Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala, an outstanding organization of local youngsters which is striving towards the welfare of the society through its various activities, is sure to attract hundreds of people.
Ullal beach is known for its pristine beauty and the festival is being held at Mogaveerapatna. There is confidence that this beach fest would give a thrust to tourism development.
The festival will be inaugurated on November 24 evening by Mangalore MP Nalin Kumar Kateel. The newly build building of Government Aided Mogaveera Higher Primary School of Ullal, will be inaugurated by Jagadish Bolur, Managing Director, Yojaka Pvt Ltd, Mangalore and PP Upadhya, Managing Director, MRPL, Mangalore.
Deputy Commissioner Dr Channappa Gowda will release a special souvenir brought out to commemorate the occasion. Maruthi Sadhaka Prashasti (Outstanding Achiever Awards) will be presented to Salumarada Timmakka, environmentalist, Harekala Hajabba, the orange seller who has built a school in his village and Ullal Mohan Kumar, noted dancer.
The Maruthi Youth Awards will be presented to Vilas Nayak, noted artist, Nihal Ullal, cricketer and Prathibha Shetty, agriculturist.
A Musical evening by Vijayaprakash, music composer and singer of Oscar Award winning film Slum Dog Millionaire will be the added attraction of the event. Several renowned stars will add glitter to this function.
The new building of the Mogaveera Patna School that will be inaugurated this evening, has been constructed at a cost of Rs one crore. The Beach Festival will also feature boat rides, speed boat rides, food festival ,kite festival, sand sculpture and a dance festival, says Bharath Kumar, President of the Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala Silver Jubilee committee.
Such events will not only contribute to development, create awareness on art and culture, but would also help in promoting tourism which is the need of the hour, feel many.
