Mangalore: The opposition members clamoured in the council meeting held on Friday (September.30), not to disconnect water supply to Ullal TMC, but a resolution was nevertheless passed to disconnect water supply to Ullal TMC, that had failed to pay outstanding dues of Rs.1.60 crores to the MCC, which has asked the TMC to settle the dues in 7 days.
The pending amount was Rs.1,60,43,500 as on August 31, 2011 it was revealed. It had increased at Rs.10 lakhs which was paid in December.2010, yet the Ullal TMC could not enter in to an MoU for water supply to pay balance Rs.1.60 crores till now.
The Congress corporators in MCC argued that it was not an illegal connection, and MCC should give them (Ullal) enough time to settle all dues.
There was discussion on Mobile towers, as to if it was safe to install them in MCC limits without prior permission, before such installation and service providers in city on such Towers.
Discussions were also held on builders’ violation of rules and street lights burning during the day and not at nights.
