Beltangady : State health and family planning minister U T Khader, said that Ullal will get the first ever multi-specialty hospital in the country under National Urban Health Mission (NHUM).
Speaking after holding discussions with officials at a high level meeting at SDM College of Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences at Ujire on April 26 Friday, he said that the multi-specialty hospital will replace the primary health centre after demolition.
He also said that, ten hospitals will come up in Mangalore under NHUM. Steps to upgrade the Suratkal and Bengre primary health centers have also started.
Apart from it, seven new hospital buildings will be built in the city. However the location of primary health centre which is presently functioning in Jeppu will be changed as per requirement.
Speaking about the Ullal specialty hospital, Khader said that in the first phase, a 30-bed will be upgraded and further extending to 100 beds, which will be built on the lines of private hospitals through unique design and architecture.
He also examined the three different blue prints prepared by architects for the hospital building and approved one among it.
Director in the department of health and family department, Dr Geeta Nyamagoudar, director in the department of Ayurveda, Yoga And Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha And Homoepathy (AYUSH) , Dr Shivakumar, TPMO, Dr Ratnakar, Dakshina Kannada AIDS control officer, Dr Kishore, district surveillance officer, Dr Rajesh, health officer of Mangalore city corporation, Dr Manjaiah Shetty, city Integrated Child Development Service officer, Dr Sudarshan, architect of the building, Sooryakumar, manager in the district accounts department, Yasser Kannur, and manager of district planning department, Muhammed Ashraf were present.
