Mangalore: The serene Ullal beach is all set to witness its first beach festival on November 24 and 25. The Ullal Beach Festival will be organised by Maruthi Yuvaka Mandala (MYM) of Mogaveera Patna at Ullal to mark its silver jubilee celebrations.
MYM Silver Jubilee Committee president Bharath Kumar told TOI that beach Kabaddi, throwball for women, kite festival and water sports will be the highlight of the beach festival.
“A dance and cultural festival will be held on November 25 from 5.00pm onwards. Sandalwood actress Jenifer Kotwal and comedian Tennis Krishna will participate in the fest. Boat race, sand art, kite show, traditional fishing, swimming, auto expo, star evening and food festival will be the other attractions during the two-day fest,” he said adding that the main focus of the food festival will be on sea food items of the coast prepared by local women.
Water sports like boating and jet ski will be introduced at Ullal for the first time along with an amusement park. “Security has been given top most priority. About 250 volunteers will active and two teams of life guards comprising of 30 members each from Shivaji Jeevarakshak Sangh and Jeevrakshak Sangh will be stationed at the beach.
The theme song for the beach fest composed by Shahsiraj Kavoor, music by Manikanth Kadri and sung by Mime Ramdas was released,” Bharath said.
The MYM will confer the ‘Maruthi Sadhaka’ award on achievers Salumarada Thimmakka (Environment), Harekala Hajabba (Education) and Ullala Mohan Kumar (culture). The Maruthi Yuva Prashasti will be conferred on Vilas Kumar (international fame artist), Nihal Ullal (cricketer) and Prathiba Shetty (agriculturist). A cultural programme and musical evening by music composer and singer of Oscar award winning film Slum Dog Millionare Vijayaprakash will also be held on November 24, he added.-Times of India
