Manglaore: The Tulu Sahitya Academy in city has a new President, on the retirement of Dr. Palthady Ramakrishna Achar, in Umanath Kottian ended this week.

Umanath A. Kotian the new President is an amateur stage artiste, and a political activist.

He served theatre arts for 20 years, also working for Tulu movies and television serials.

He lives in Kavoor but belongs to Bantwal Taluk.

He is a Vice-president of Dakshina Kannada BJP unit and holds charge of Mangalore North and Mulky-Moodabidri assembly areas to develop membership and activities.

10 members were also appointed to the academy by the state Government, such Jagannath Shetty Bala (Jayakirana) and Prof. Tukaram Poojary of Bantwal. Some regional representatives are also there for Puttur, Sullia and Mangalore. Three more will be added later for various communities or areas unrepresented now.
