Mangalore : The close aide of Ravi Poojary and Kali Yogish and the prime accused in counterfeit currency case Mohammad Haneef alias Mohammad Ali alias Munna (30) was arrested near Ullal Railway Station on Tuesday, June 17.
The city crime branch (CCB) police have arrested him with the three live rounds of bullets and two mobiles.
He was wanted in the case of transportation of counterfeit notes worth Rs 25 lac from Dubai to Bangalore in the year 2007, dacoity case in Manjeshwar Police Station Limits, attempt to murder of Prabhakar Chowta, Manjeshwar as per the directions of Ravi Pujari and Kali Yogesh in the year 2011, threatening business at Manjeshwar, providing vehicle to people who had tried to kill Kaliya Rafiq and Siddiq in the year 2013, providing gun and live rounds to the accused who fired at Bevinje businessman M.T.Mohammad’s house.
The court granted him bail and he was released in the transportation of counterfeit notes case, but instead of appearing in court as needed, he went absconding.
Police said that Hanif had supplied the pistol and the bullets to the accused in the assaulting case of Devipura, Talapady in July 9, 2013.
On March 12, 2014 Haneef was spotted by the Police along with other Pujari and Yogesh aides Siddique, Nithin and Guru Prasanna. but he managed to escape from the police.
The directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI), have registered cases, against Hanif in Bangalore, Vittal, Konaje, Manjeshwar, Kasargod, and Vidyanagar police stations.
In the direction of the city police commissioner R Hitendra, Dr Jagadish, DCP (crime) Vishnuvardhan, and led by CCB inspector Valentine D’Souza. PSI Shyamsunder, police personnel Shashidhar Shetty, Ganesh M P, Venugopal, Chandrashekar, Dinesh Bekal, Rajendra Prasad, Sudhir Shetty, Abdul Jabbar, Mani M N and Tejakumar was conducted the arrest operation.
