Karkala : Uniforms were distributed to members of Navodaya Self-Help Groups  on behalf of the Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust at the Hiriyangady Mahaveera Bhavan of Karkala on November 3, Saturday. SHG members belonging to different faiths inaugurated the function.

Presiding over the function, MN Rajendra Kumar, chairman of SCDCC Bank and the Trust, said a woman was the backbone of the family and added the Trust aims at making women stand on equal footing with men. He said the Navodaya Self Help Groups is the only  SHG in the state which has  women as 72 per cent of its members.

Ravindra Bhat, Treasurer of Sri Venkatramana educational institution of Karkala, distributed uniforms.Prof. M Balakrishna Shetty, Principal of Kateel Sri Durga Parameshwari First Grade College, was the chief guest . SCDCC Bank Directors B Niranjan, Vadiraj Shetty, Raju Poojari, Rohan Monteiro,  Managing Director of Property Infratech, and others were present on the occasion.
