Kasargod : Union  HRD Minister Pallam Raju laid the foundation for the Central University at Pallam near here .

Speaking on the occasion, the minister said a medical college would be sanctioned to Kasargod district. He also pointed out that presently people from Kasargod relied on Mangalore for medical education and other facilities.

He also hinted at the government plans to open more universities.

Kerala CM Oommen Chandy presided over the function. Shashi Tharoor, Union Minister of State for HRD released the master plan of the University.

P Abdurab, Kerala Education Minister, E Ahmed, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr Jancy James, Vice Chancellor, Dr Abdur Rasheed, Registrar and others were present.
