Mangaluru: Karnataka high court in an order on Wednesday quashed a case registered against Union Minister DV Sadananda Gowda (DVS) inconnection with violation of election code of conduct during an election campaign programme in Dakshina Kannada. A single member bench of the high court released the order following a writ petition by DVS which sought the court to dismiss of the hearing of the case in a local court.
According to the high court order, all proceedings of the case have been cancelled with immediate effect. A JMFC court in Mangaluru was hearing the case after Mangaluru rural police booked him following a complaint from special election officer which stated DVS had violated election code of conduct to participate in an election campaign on April 9, 2014, just prior to the Lok Sabha elections.
