Mangalore : Union Government would sanction Rs 200 crores to Mangalore under the ambitious Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission.
The assurance comes from Union Urban Development Minister Kamalnath after Union Minister for Surface Transport Oscar Fernandes met him and made an appeal.
Kamalnath told Oscar that Rs 100 crore would be released immediately while the rest would be released after the government sent a proposal to the Centre.
Earlier, Oscar apprised Kamalnath of the fact that Mangalore needed funds for development and was in the lead in tax collection in the state.
