Mangalore : Union HRD Minister MM Pallam Raju declared open the Leela Narayan Shetty Memorial Cancer Institute and Dr N V Adyanthaya Research and Super Specialty Block, coming under Justice K S Hegde Charitable hospital at K S Hegde Medical Academy, Derlakatte in Mangalore on March 26, Tuesday.The super specialty block has 1250 and is equipped with state-of-the art facilities. Leela Narayan Shetty Memorial Cancer Institute is also equipped with the best of facilities including a Linear Accelerator, the first in a hospital in Mangalore
Speaking on the occasion, Pallam Raju was all praise for KSHEMA for its initiative in setting up of the institute and specialty block. He also hailed that KS Hegde Charitable Hospital was rendering yeoman service in the healthcare sector of the region.
Pallam Raju also emphasized the need for more skilled manpower which is employable. He also praised the research initiatives in the district.
Former Lokayukta Justice N Santosh Hegde also spoke on the occasion. N Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, Prof. S Ramananda Shetty, pro-chancellor, Vishal Hegde Trustee of NET,Dr Narayan Shetty (Cardiologist, Pittsburg, USA) and Pro-Chancellor Prof M Shantharam Shetty and others were present on the occasion.
Dr N V Adyanthaya Research and Super Speciality Block is a 1200 bed hospital with state-of-the-art facilities.
