Mangaluru : Union minister for Water Resources Uma Bharti, who was in the temple town to perform pada pooja to her guru Pejawar seer Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swami, said that she is offering the service in the temple town after 17 years.
She said the seer had offered her the Sanyasa Dheekshe on November 17, 1992 and has guided her spiritually and morally all through the years.
Uma visits him in different places on Gurupurnima and sought his blessings during his Chaturmasya. Her guru was a great social reformer. “His efforts to instal a statue of Kanakadasa in the temple premises is laudable. He showed the path to saints to indulge themselves in social reform works. He is the founder of innovative social reform movement,” she said.
She said the area is sacred and that her guru and Lord Krishna comprise her world.
The minister later attended the celebrations held by the mutt on the occasion of Gurupurnima.
