Mangalore: Union Railway Minister D.V.Sadananda Gowda’s sister and as well as Zilla Panchayat Member Savitri Shivaram Gowda (55) died of cancer at KMC Hospital on October 7, Tuesday.

It is learnt that, DVS along with his wife Datty and son Karthik Gowda had visited the hospital to enquire about his ailing sister in the morning.

Later, several leaders including Zilla Panchayat President Asha Timmappa Gowda, ZP Vice President Satish Kumpala, former Puttur MLA Mallika Bhandary also visited the hospital.

Savitri who hailed from Hoddeti near Perenje in Sullia, has served as a President of Puttur Taluk Panchayat from 2009 to 2011. She has also served as a volunteer of National Sevika Samiti.

Savitri has been survived by her husband Shivaram, two daughters, mother, four brothers and a sister.

Leaders like MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik, former MLC Monappa Bhandari, Balakrishna Bhat, former MLA Krishna J Palemar, former MLA Mallika Prasad, BJP President Prathapsimha Nayak, Kishor Rai, Sanjeeva Matanduru, Shailaja K.T Bhat, Sulochana G.K Bhat, Jeshta Padival and others have condoled to her death.

Her last rite will be performed at Peraje on Wednesday morning.
