Konaje : Students of Mangalore University at Mangalagangotri staged a protest on Tuesday seeking CBI probe into the unnatural death of Kavya Poojary, a class 10 student of Alva’s High School in Moodbidri on July 20.
Earlier, they marched to the main gate of the university and staged the protest.
Some students, who spoke on the occasion, said that the government should not delay in handing over the case to the CBI as people have doubts whether it was a suicide.
They maintained that it was not a protest against the Alva’s institutions, but the parents of the deceased girl should get justice. Meanwhile, M. Mohan Alva, chairman, Alva’s Education Foundation, in a statement here said that the foundation is ready for any investigation by any agency and its administration was transparent.
He said that investigation by the police would reveal the truth.
Mr. Alva said that he was pained that he and the education institutions managed by the foundation were being shown in bad light over the suicide of the student. The reports have created anxiety among 26,000 students studying in its various institutes and their parents who have a great trust in the foundation.
