Udupi : Two unknown miscreants wearing the masks entered the jewellery shop and gunfire at a store on Friday August 19 at around 7.30 pm.

According to the eyewitnesses, the miscreants came on a bike and one of the two entered the jewelry shop named ‘Airodi’ located at North School Cross Road. But when the watchman, Vittal tried to stop him, he in turn fired a gunshot. But Vittal had luckily escaped from the bullet.

Later the miscreants fired two rounds in air and fled from the scene. The senior police who came to the spot investigated the 9 mm bullets at the compound wall.

The miscreant who shot was attired in white shoes, t-shirt and jeans and they moved towards Manipal.

Since there was no CCTV installed in the store, the job of department became tougher.

According to the police, the gunmen might have only wanted to threaten and not kill anybody
