New Delhi: As if the financial scandals and probes into them, the CVC case (dismissal), CWG scam et are not enough for Congress led UPA govt, a lethal blow has been dealt by DMK to its senior partner in UPA-Congress by sending in resignation letters of 6 ministers and providing only outside support from case to case as it comes up for voting in the Parliament.
The DMK leadership sitting in its main office, Anna Arivalayam, decided to withdraw from govt. today. M.K.Azhagiri, one of the ministers, has expressed his happiness over the decision taken by his party from South India. Tamil Nadu is going to polls in a couple of months, and Congress could not reach any amicable settlement on seat sharing with DMK. One of the DMK members (A.Raja) is languish in jail and MP Kanimozhi is facing CBI probe on the 2G Spectrum funds deal scandal.
M.Karunanidhi could not be too happy with Congress which was demanding a higher share of seats with its former ally (DMK) in the forthcoming state elections. Now they will fight each other in Tamil Nadu independently, and AIADMK chief secretary and Supremo Jayalaitha does not know her future activities in a coalition to come after the elections to rule Tamil Nadu.
It is her turn to rule and Karunanidhi’s turn to retire from politics at 85. There is an acrimony between Azhagiri and Stalin in the family of present TN CM Karunanidhi.
Resignations over, political situation in Tamil Nadu gets complicated as there is no negotiator. Chiadambaram has failed to bring about amity in UPA, with DMK allied group recently.
At the Centre, Samajawadi (22), BSP (21) and RJD (4) are supporters of UPA from outside, not partners. But DMK has divorced Congress in UPA at the eleventh hour ion seats allotment to contest TN state elections. DMK’s stand has stunned the Congress to be speechless and nervous.
