Mangalore : The Mangalore City Corporation office, on February 25, Monday witnessed some confusion when JD(S) leader urged the election officer to reject the nomination papers of Congress candidate Appi who had applied from Jeppu 59 ward.
Their argument was that Appi had not mentioned in her nominations that she had a government job earlier and worked as a cook. Finally, the election officer approved her nominations paper stating the issue did not come under his purview.
Ivan D’Souza, Congress leader said there was no confusion over the issue as the documents which the JD(S) had was pertaining to a woman called Appilatha.
However, JD(S) office bearer MG Hegde claimed that the JD(S) had evidence and that Appi while contesting in the previous elections too had not mentioned that she had a government job.
