Bangalore : BJP leader D V Sadananda Gowda said on Tuesday that he has urged Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to take a decision on bringing former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa back to the party fold at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters, he said he met Modi in Ahmedabad to discuss about organising the party for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. The issue of bringing Yeddyurappa back to the party fold was also discussed in the meeting. “Modi has responded positively and assured to take up the issue in the BJP parliamentary board meeting scheduled for September 8 in Delhi,” he stated.
He said delay in taking a decision on the Yeddyurappa issue will have a bearing on strengthening the party. There is a confusion among the party workers on whether the former chief minister returns to the party. Division of votes can be prevented if Yeddyurappa rejoins the BJP, he added.
Former minister V Somanna said there are no permanent enemies in politics. The BJP will be able to perform better in the 2014 elections if Yeddyurappa is brought back to the party fold, he added.
