Mangaluru : Usman Karopady, father of Abdul Jaleel Karopady, vice president of Karopady who was murdered recently, has demanded CID probe into the case.
He has stated that he is not satisfied with the investigation into the murder of his son by the Dakshina Kannada police. Briefing reporters, Usman said that the police have arrested 11 persons, accomplice of underworld don Vikky Shetty in connection with the murder, however, the prime accused is still at large. During a recent press meet, IGP (Western Range) P Harishekaran had mentioned the name of Dinesh Shetty as also being part of the conspiracy.
Even ADGP Alok Mohan had asked Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Bhushan Borase to arrest Dinesh Shetty. The SP, however, has continued stating that Shetty is absconding although he has been moving freely in and around Karopady and the police have failed to arrest him, he complained.
Usman said that Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara had visited his family recently and had promised to act against all the accused. Even the home minister’s visit has not changed the course of investigation.
Accusing Dinesh Shetty as the main culprit in the case, he urged the police to arrest him to bring out the truth. Dinesh Shetty, a Karopady Gram Panchayat member, had aspired to be the vice president soon after the elections held in 2015. Jaleel had earned the wrath of Vikky Shetty, Dinesh Shetty’s cousin for pipping Dinesh Shetty to become vice president of the Gram Panchayat.
“Vikky Shetty had called me a few days before the election to the posts of president and vice president and asked to give the post of vice president to Dinesh Shetty. However, I categorically told him that it was left to the party senior leaders to decide. Later, Vikky Shetty called the husband of the Karopady Gram Panchayat president and sought his help in making Dinesh Shetty as the vice president of the Gram Panchayat. In spite of furnishing call records, the police have failed to arrest Dinesh,” said Usman.
He also produced a photo of a Vittal police posing with financier Pradeep Shetty, alleging that they were also involved in the case. Usman said that he would meet Chief Minister Siddaramaiah next week and appraise him of the incident.
