Bengaluru: “Vacant 20158 police constable posts will be filled by next March end,” said State Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar.
Speaking to the reporters he said that after filling these posts the number of constables in the state will be increased to 1 lakh.
“As the previous BJP government didn’t fill the vacant places, there was a huge shortage of police personnel in the department. For the first time in the history of the department we are hiring constables in such a huge number,” he said.
He further said that 6000 constables were hired in the first phase and out of them 2000 are being trained. At the end of September they will be available to join the duty. In the second phase, 6610 candidates have completed their written and physical test. The department has permitted to hire 7548 staff in the third phase. All the posts will be filled before March 2017.
“For the place of retiring constables in coming three years, candidates will be hired in the same year only. The department has passes an order to quicken the recruitment process also. We are conducting written exams first and then comes the physical test,” he added.
