Mangalore :  Valmiki Jayanthi was celebrated  at the DK Zilla Panchayat Auditorium on October 18, Friday under the auspices of DK district administration, Zilla Panchayat, Scheduled Class Welfare Department, Kannada and Culture Department and  DK Valmiki Nayaka Association. BA Moidin Bava, MLA of Mangalore North inaugurated the programme.

Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo presided over the function. A talk on Valmiki was delivered by  Hanuma Nayak, Professor of History in Mangalore University.

SC students who scored above 85 per cent in PUC exams were felicitated. N Prakash, Deputy Commissioner, Tulasi Maddineni, ZP CEO,  K Dayanand, Additional DC and others were present as chief guests.
