Mangalore: Residents of Vamanjoor had arrived in front of the MCC office on July 17, Wednesday evening along with trucks of meat wastes to protest against the unscientific disposal of garbage in the area giving rise to fear of spread of contagious diseases.
One of the persons present at the spot all sorts of wastes are being dumped in front of Mangalajyothi School and that people residing in the area are forced to bear with the foul smell. He said the meat wastes had started decaying posing health hazards. The people also complained that the MCC officials were not responding to their problems. Though they had assured to inspect the spot, none had arrived so far, the residents complained.
Later, MCC Environmental engineer Madhu said all out efforts would be made to solve the problem and added the contract has been assigned to a Delhi based company which was installing equipment and once everything is complete the problem will be solved.He also said MCC officials will visit the spot on Thursday.
