Kochi (Kerala): 85 species of new fishes at the bottom of Arabian sea at a depth of 500 meters and a new Shark species, were discovered by scientists of Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in the Indian Ocean’s separate Economic Zone. The Shark is known as new triachid variety, named after Mangalore. 19 varieties of sharks are known so far, a press release from Directorate of Fisheries informed.
The scientists who found 84 fish species newly, including 15 types of sharks, also discovered ten forms of eels, at depths beyond 500 metres.
All these classified varieties of colourful fishes, sharks and eels will add to the bio-diversity of the sub-continent, it is felt here by surprised scientists.
