Mangalore : Colonel C R Deshpande, the director of Army Recruiting Office, Mangalore, said that the Army Recruitment department will hold Mangalore Rally for the candidates of Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Shimoga, Kodagu, Hassan, Udupi, Davanagere, Chikmagalur, Chitradurga, Bijapur and Dharwad districts for Sol GD, Sol GD (SMP) & Sol GD (DSC) cat only and for Sol Tech, Sol CLK/ SKT and Sol NA cat for all districts of the Karnataka.
Addressing the press conference held at Mangala Stadium on April 6, Wednesday he said that the recruitment is being held under the aegis of Recruiting Zone Bangalore from April 4 to April 10. This is the first rally of recruiting year 2011-2012 of the recruiting cycle 2010-2012.
The recruitment rally will receive the full publicity of the media and will be absolutely transparent, said the officer. The candidates will first undergo a physical fitness test, which requires them to run a mile, perform pull ups, jump across a 9ft ditch, and walk across a horizontal bar, he said.
Due to adequate publicity, around 3800 candidates have been screened. The candidates will also have to undergo a written test and meritorious students will be enrolled into the army.
The medical tests will be conducted by 3 doctors from different geographical locations. Candidates are required to submit their SSLC, PUC, nativity certificates, caste-cum-character certificate, conduct certificate and NCC certificate.
Speaking on the recruiting officers he said that seven officers, 20 JCO and 70 other officers are the part of selection procedure. From April 14 to 21 there will be Mysore Rally and on April 20 there will be opportunity for the candidates of DK, Udupi and Kodagu districts.
