15.06.10 Mangalore : Dr K N Vijayaprakash, commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation, said that Various departments including Traffic, Mescom, Police, Homeguard, health department, fisheries department, Fire and other department will combine and work as a team to to help the public duruing the by heavy rains in the city.
Speaking at the meeting conducted at Mayors Chamber of MCC on Tuesday, June 15, regarding the precautionary measures to be taken to combat the damage, he said that various departments is ready to tackle monsoon menaces.
Speaking on the occasion, one of the officials said that 75 divers and swimmers along with boats have been arranged for rescue operations. Primary Health Centres have been notified to gear up for emergency situations.
In case water gets collected inside the houses people are required to call fire services and the water would be drained out even from unreachable areas through portable pumps,he added.
Life guards and swimmers have been deputed at Ullal, Panambur, and Sasihitlu.
Removing power during emergencies, especially if there are cases of live wires posing damages was also discussed. The task force is ready where the assistant enguineer will be station at night qwith the special gang and vehicles for emergency on a telephonic complains by the public.
Mayor Rajani Dugganna, Comissioner Dr Vijayaprakash, Rajendra Kumar, Deputy Mayor, Ranganath Kini, Manjunath Shetty, Traffic Police, District Health Officer, Port officer, RTO officials were present in the meeting.
